Multi-Room Audio and Video in Sydney

A home theatre fills one room with great sound and picture. Multi-room audio and video extends that idea across the whole house and out into the garden, so music follows you from the kitchen to the deck and the right movie lands on the right screen, all from a single app.

Birch Tech designs and installs whole-home AV across Sydney. It is a step up from a standard home theatre install, bringing zoned audio, architectural speakers, video distribution and a proper control layer together into one system that is genuinely easy to live with.

Sound In Every Room

Zoned, multi-room audio means each space can do its own thing. Run the same album right through the house when you are entertaining, or keep the kitchen on a podcast while the kids play something different in the lounge and the patio plays something else again. Every zone has its own source and volume, and you can group or split them whenever you like.

We use architectural in-ceiling and in-wall speakers so the sound is there without the clutter, and weather-rated outdoor speakers turn the alfresco, deck or pool area into its own zone.

Video Done Properly

On the video side, a tidy AV rack and source switching mean your media gear lives in one place and the right picture reaches the right display. Video distribution lets you share sources across multiple screens, so a single setup can feed the media room and other TVs around the home without a tangle of boxes under each one.

The media room itself gets the full treatment, while the rest of the house benefits from the same clean, centralised approach.

One App, Many Scenes

Everything comes together under single-app and keypad control. Beyond simply choosing what plays where, we build scenes that match how you actually use your home. A movie scene can dim the lights, lower the blinds and switch the room to the projector. An entertaining scene can spread music across the living areas and outdoors at the right level. An outdoor scene can wake just the patio speakers.

Because the control layer can tie in with lighting and blinds, these scenes pull the whole room together with one tap.

FAQs

Multi-Room Audio & Video in Sydney — FAQs

What is multi-room audio?

Multi-room audio is a system that lets you play music throughout your home, with each room or zone able to run independently. You can play the same song everywhere for a party, or have one playlist in the kitchen, the radio in the bedroom and something else outside, each at its own volume. It moves you beyond a single speaker or one stereo in one room to sound wherever you want it, all managed from one place.

Can I play different music in different rooms at once?

Yes. Zoned systems are built for exactly this. Each zone can play its own source and sit at its own volume independently of the others, so the lounge, kitchen and outdoor area can all be doing different things at the same time. You can also group zones together when you want the same music across the whole home, then split them again, all from the app.

Can I control everything from one app?

Yes. The whole point of an integrated system is single-app control. From your phone or a wall keypad you select what plays in each zone, adjust volume, switch sources and trigger scenes, and on the video side choose what shows on each display. We set this up so it is genuinely simple for the whole household to use, not just whoever installed it.

Can you install outdoor or patio speakers?

Yes. We install weather-rated speakers designed for outdoor conditions, whether that is in-ceiling speakers under an alfresco roof, landscape speakers around the garden or rock-style speakers near a pool. They become their own zone, so you can run music outside independently of what is happening indoors, and we site them to give even coverage without blasting the neighbours.

In-ceiling, in-wall or bookshelf speakers, which is best?

It depends on the room and the look you want. In-ceiling and in-wall architectural speakers are popular because they disappear into the room and free up floor and shelf space while delivering even sound, which suits whole-home audio. Bookshelf or standalone speakers can offer more punch in a dedicated listening or media room. We assess each space and recommend the right mix for the sound and aesthetic you are after.

Can you use my existing speakers and TV?

Often, yes. We are happy to design around equipment you already own where it suits the system, and only recommend upgrades where they will genuinely improve the result. Whether existing speakers, a TV or amplification can be reused depends on their type and condition, which we check during the assessment. Our approach is to make the most of what you have, with no hard sell.

Can you hide the equipment and cables?

Yes. Concealing gear and cabling is a standard part of how we work. Speakers can be flush-mounted into ceilings and walls, the AV rack and amplification can live in a cupboard, under the stairs or another out-of-the-way spot, and wiring is run in-wall or in tidy conduit wherever practical. The result is great sound and picture with a clean, clutter-free finish.

Can it integrate with my smart home?

Yes. The control layer can tie your audio and video in with lighting, blinds and other smart devices, so a single scene can dim the lights, lower the blinds and start the music together. We design ecosystem-neutral systems that work with widely supported platforms, and the exact integrations available depend on the products chosen, which we match to your preferred setup during the design.

What affects the cost of a multi-room AV system?

There is no single fixed price because cost depends on how many zones you want, the number and type of speakers, indoor versus outdoor coverage, the amplification and AV rack, video distribution to multiple screens, the control system and the amount of cabling and concealment involved. A two-zone setup is very different from a whole-home system with outdoor zones and a media room. We provide a free, no-obligation quote after assessing your home so you know the cost upfront.
