Security Camera Installation in Sydney
If you work from home or run your own office, you understand just how important security is. When you take the security of your premises seriously, you’re effectively protecting your financial future, and you have the peace of mind of knowing that if anything should happen, you’ll have everything you need on film.
Installing a security camera system is a must, not a maybe.
CCTV cameras are not only prevention but the cure too. CCTV systems are a known deterrent for would-be criminals, as well as being able to document evidence if somebody should break in.
CCTV cameras should meet your needs, which is why Birch Tech uses recognised, reputable camera brands from the security market. So not only can you trust that your cameras will be reliable and there when you need them, you can trust that Birch Tech has installed them to a high security standard.
It is often the case that people purchase a retail system but aren’t 100% sure on the installation. Our experienced team will make sure that your security camera installation goes off without a hitch.

CCTV Explained in Plain English
Buying a CCTV system shouldn’t require a technical degree. Here’s the jargon decoded so you can make an informed choice.
IP vs Analog cameras. Analog cameras send their signal over coaxial cable to a DVR recorder. They’re a proven, cost-effective option, but resolution tends to be more limited. IP (network) cameras send digital video over standard data cabling to an NVR recorder. They generally offer higher resolution, easier remote access and smarter features, and a single data cable can carry both power and video (using PoE). For most new installations we recommend IP cameras for the better image quality and flexibility.
NVR vs DVR recorders. The recorder is the box that stores your footage. A DVR (Digital Video Recorder) pairs with analog cameras over coaxial cable. An NVR (Network Video Recorder) pairs with IP cameras over data cable. The simple rule: analog cameras need a DVR, IP cameras need an NVR. NVR systems are the more future-ready choice and typically support higher resolutions and tidier cabling.
Resolution and how many cameras. Resolution is how much detail each camera captures. 1080p (also called 2MP) is fine for general coverage; 4MP gives noticeably sharper images; 4K delivers the most detail and is ideal for key entry points where you want to identify faces or number plates. Higher resolution uses more storage, so a common approach is higher resolution at critical spots and standard resolution elsewhere. For camera count, start with your entry points, the front and back doors, driveway or garage, and side access, then add cameras for large yards or any blind spots. We’ll help you find the right balance during a free on-site assessment, so you get full coverage without over-spending.
Prefer Wireless? We Fit Arlo
Not every property needs a full wired NVR system. For renters, fast coverage, or spots where running cable isn’t practical, we often fit Arlo — wireless security cameras and video doorbells with sharp day-and-night video, smart person-detection alerts and easy control from your phone. We’ll help you choose the right kit, mount it properly and set it up so it genuinely covers your blind spots.
Browse the current Arlo range and we’ll supply and install it — or mix wired and wireless where that’s the smarter setup for your place.
Disclosure: Birch Tech is an independent installer and an Arlo affiliate — if you buy through our link we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. It never changes what we recommend, or your price.
Is a Professional Security Camera Installation Worth It?
Just like anything, when you go to a professional, they have the experience and knowledge to make sure everything is placed correctly. There’s nothing worse than placing security cameras only to realise there are numerous blind spots. When you hire a professional, all the correct angles are taken into consideration to maximise the coverage of your CCTV system.
