Works with your gear

Is there anything as enjoyable as kicking back and watching your favourite movies at the cinema? Well, actually, yes because you can upgrade your current system to a home theatre system. And it can be used for more than just movies you can use it to watch the big matches, play games, and make kids parties even more enjoyable.

A home theatre installation can improve in-home entertainment ten-fold.

Birch Tech are the experts in home entertainment installations. Which makes us number one in the Sydney area, making your home theatre dreams a reality.

Planning your home theatre

There are some considerations you need to make before you have a home theatre installation.

Try to choose a single room where you want to install the home theatre system. And see if it has a space for a project or not. Projector systems range is known as ‘throw’. But different projects have different ranges of ‘throw’. This will be measured by the distance of the projector from the screen. You will be able to find a projector’s throw ratio online with a little bit of research before you purchase.

You’re going to need to make sure that the projector is not next to the light or a window. If the room you’re choosing has too many windows, the best thing you can do is get a screen and projector placed perpendicular to the doors and windows. Make sure you do not place a projector either faces towards or away from the window; this will impact the quality of viewing.

The speaker placement makes a lot of difference when it comes to your sound. If you opt for wall speakers, you need to ensure the rear speakers aren’t placed too low into the wall. This will cause sound fluctuations. And this may make some sounds excessively loud in some situations.

The most important part of your home theatre installation in Sydney is going to be the wiring. All the wiring for a home theatre setup should be done by a professional, like Birch Tech.

In order to create the most high-quality home theatre environment, Birch Tech recommends the minimum.

  • High-quality surround sound system, the sound is such a big part of a movie viewing experience, that low-quality speakers can impact how enjoyable your system is.
  • Hard wired internet connection, this will ensure that you don’t have any wifi interruptions halfway through a film or gaming session.
  • And either the largest projector and screen you can afford, or the highest quality HDTV.

And of course, you’re going to need comfortable seating.

FAQs

Home Theatre Installation Sydney — FAQs

What does the home theatre installation process involve?

We follow a clear path: design, supply, install, calibrate and train. First we assess your room and design a system around how you want to use it. We then supply or work with your chosen gear, install and wire everything neatly, calibrate the sound and picture, and finally show you how to operate it all. You're left with a complete, working cinema setup.

Can you set up 5.1, 7.1 or Dolby Atmos surround sound?

Yes. We set up surround systems from 5.1 and 7.1 through to Dolby Atmos with height channels. Speaker placement makes a huge difference to sound quality, so we position each speaker correctly. For example, rear wall speakers should not sit too low or you'll get uneven sound. We tune the system so audio is balanced across every seat.

Do you use in-wall or surface cabling?

Wherever practical we run cabling in-wall for a completely hidden finish, which is ideal for a clean cinema look. On brick or where in-wall runs aren't possible, we use neat conduit. All home theatre wiring should be done by a professional, as it's central to getting reliable, high-quality performance.

Should I choose a projector or a large TV?

It depends on your room. A projector and screen gives the biggest cinematic image but needs controlled lighting, as it shouldn't face or back onto a bright window. A large high-quality TV is brighter and more forgiving in rooms with lots of windows. We'll assess your room's size and lighting and recommend the best option for you.

What acoustic and lighting factors matter in a home theatre?

Lighting and speaker placement are the big ones. For projectors, we keep the screen away from direct light and position it perpendicular to windows and doors where possible. For sound, we place speakers at the right height and distance so audio is even and immersive rather than fluctuating or overly loud in spots. We factor all of this into the design.

How long does a home theatre installation take?

It depends on the complexity, the amount of cabling to conceal and whether we're installing a projector and screen or a TV. A straightforward setup can be done in a day, while a full multi-speaker theatre with in-wall cabling takes longer. We'll give you a clear time frame when we provide your free quote.

Can you work with my existing equipment?

Yes. We're happy to design around the gear you already own and only recommend upgrades where they'll genuinely improve your experience. Our team works with you to deliver the home theatre you're looking for, with no hard sell.

Will you hide all the cables?

Yes. Hidden cabling is a standard part of our home theatre installations. We conceal speaker wires, source-device cables and power runs in-wall or in tidy conduit so the finished room looks clean and professional.

Do you set up a single remote for the whole system?

We can configure a whole-theatre remote so you can control the display, surround sound and source devices together, making the system simple to use day to day.
